When will I need a touch-up for SMP?

The frequency of touch-up sessions needed for scalp micro pigmentation (SMP) varies depending on several factors, such as the quality of the pigments used, the technique of the practitioner, and the aftercare provided. Some people may find that they only need touch-up sessions every few years, while others may require more frequent maintenance to keep the SMP looking fresh and natural.

In general, it is recommended to have a touch-up session to maintain the desired look and to address any fading or color changes that may have occurred over time.  Most clients don’t need that touch-up session for 3-5 years after their last treatment, depending on the factors outlined in the previous paragraph.

It’s also important to remember that the skin and hair continue to age, and factors such as sun exposure, skincare practices, and hair loss progression can all impact the appearance of SMP over time. Regular touch-up sessions can help to address these changes and keep the SMP looking its best.

It’s always best to consult with your SMP practitioner to determine the frequency of touch-up sessions needed to maintain your desired look.
